An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Print Specialist to join the ASDA Brand Team. This role is responsible for print technical and brand colour control throughout the design process for Own Brand packaging, ensuring best-in-class levels of print quality and Brand consistency.
About the role:
As a Print Specialist, you will be one of a team of Subject Matter Experts (SME’s). This is a fast paced and demanding role, ensuring that the eventual design execution is both cost effective and aligned to our wider business objectives.
You will work closely with other teams within the Own Brand Function as well as a wide range of external stakeholders as a source of expert knowledge and guidance.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Packaging, Print and Packaging Sustainability, you will:
- Execute print solutions for NPD and redesign projects across all business unit areas as required, including Fresh and Ambient Food, Non-Edible Grocery and Foodservice categories.
- Work with creative artwork agencies to ensure right first-time print, delivering technical print management support and best-in-class colour control throughout the design development process.
- Develop strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in order to identify and deliver innovative print solutions aligned to the ASDA Brand and Customer strategies.
- Act as a print quality guardian, proactively and efficiently managing print quality issues with suppliers and agencies.
- Keep in touch with trends and developments in technology, sharing findings with internal teams and building into execution projects.
- Invest time in learning and self-development, maintaining high levels of expertise in Print Technology and related subjects.
About you:
- You will have an excellent working knowledge of all print techniques used in the production of Packaging (Flexo, Litho, Gravure, Dry-Offset, Screen, Digital and Letterpress).
- You will have a detailed understanding of the artwork and repro-for-print processes; able to interpret design and advise on printability.
- You will have previously worked in an advisory capacity for a supplier, Brand or FMCG retailer, and have an excellent understanding of how to translate creative design inspiration into physical printed packaging, along with the associated challenges.
- You will be familiar with using a spectrophotometer; able to create and interpret CXF data.
- With strong interpersonal and organisation skills you will be able to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver to deadlines.
- You should be a strong communicator who is able to present recommendations in a clear and concise manner to decision makers at all levels.
- You are a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- You should be able to demonstrate a real passion for print! You will be in touch with the latest industry news as well as able to use your network to propose opportunities.
- Broader structural packaging knowledge and/or qualifications will give you a distinct advantage in this role.
