This is a pivotal commercial role for an experienced technical business development professional who can lead strategy, build senior relationships and convert opportunities into long-term revenue. You will work closely with the leadership team, shaping how the company’s technology reaches new partners and markets, while playing a key role in the company’s continued growth.

You’ll be involved in, and driving the following:

  • Lead the commercial strategy for a key product line, driving revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Own customer and partner development plans, identifying and converting new commercial opportunities
  • Provide market, competitor and customer insights to shape commercial and R&D strategy
  • Manage revenue forecasting, budgeting and performance tracking against agreed targets
  • Define and monitor BD and sales KPIs, embedding strong pipeline management
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners and stakeholders
  • Develop customised proposals, presentations and commercial materials
  • Lead contract negotiations with new partners
  • Represent the company at industry events, including speaking opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on new product development and grant-funded projects
  • Provide commercial updates to the Board

Who we’re looking for:

  • Strong commercial experience from within a highly technical environment. You’ll need very strong business development skills, within B2B, manufacturing, technology or a related industrial sector
  • A proven track record of driving revenue growth, managing pipelines and hitting commercial targets
  • Experience building strategic relationships and managing senior stakeholders
  • Strong skills in forecasting, budgeting, KPI tracking and commercial performance management
  • The ability to interpret market, customer and competitor insight to inform strategy
  • Excellent communication, presentation and proposal development skills
  • Experience supporting or leading contract negotiations, ideally including licensing agreements
  • Confidence representing a business publicly, including at industry events
  • A collaborative style, comfortable working across R&D, operations and product teams
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A strategic mindset combined with a hands on approach to execution

Experience of the below would be extremely useful:

  • Experience with licensing models, partnerships or global commercial ecosystems
  • Background leading cross-functional projects, including new product development or grant-funded work. Innovation is at this business’ core, so experience working with another tech innovator would be very useful
  • Familiarity with licensees and how manage these sales processes
  • Experience in a scaling or fast-growth business, or a global business where you’d been heavily involved in technical product selling.

This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative, mission-driven business at an exciting stage of growth, helping shape the future of sustainable materials.
