SJC Partners is supporting the appointment of an Acquisition Search Director on behalf of an established and growing specialist M&A deal origination business.

Our client works with private equity investors, portfolio companies and corporates to identify and engage off-market acquisition opportunities. Through a highly consultative approach, they help clients access businesses that would not typically come to market, creating opportunities for strategic acquisitions and investment.

This is a commercially focused role combining client management, relationship development and deal origination. The successful candidate will take ownership of acquisition search mandates from inception through to introduction and ongoing relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with PE backed and PLC clients at board level to define acquisition strategies and search criteria.
  • Work closely with an in-house research team to identify relevant target businesses.
  • Conduct detailed conversations with business owners and majority shareholders to understand their business model, growth plans, financial performance and long-term objectives.
  • Assess and present opportunities to clients, helping determine which businesses warrant further engagement.
  • Facilitate introductions and manage relationships throughout the acquisition process.
  • Support new business development activity, including presenting to private equity firms, portfolio companies and corporates, converting opportunities into retained mandates.

About You

The existing team includes individuals with Corporate Development Director, Head of Origination and business ownership backgrounds; candidates with similar levels of seniority and commercial experience are likely to be a strong fit for the role.”
