Design & Engineering Manager (Electrical) – Mission Critical Infrastructure
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Design & Engineering Manager (Electrical) to join a growing engineering team delivering complex mission-critical infrastructure projects across the EMEA region.
This senior leadership role is responsible for managing the design, development and delivery of innovative data centre solutions, providing technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle – from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning and project closeout.
The successful candidate will remain hands-on with electrical engineering while leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design scope for mission-critical projects from concept through to completion.
- Provide technical leadership and ownership of critical electrical systems.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and subject matter experts.
- Manage design programmes, resources, deliverables and quality standards.
- Mentor and support engineers, promoting engineering excellence and best practice.
- Review and approve designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Lead value engineering exercises and technical decision-making workshops.
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
- Support construction, installation and commissioning activities through regular site engagement.
- Collaborate closely with project management, commercial and construction teams to achieve successful project delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous).
- Extensive experience delivering electrical engineering solutions within mission-critical or data centre environments.
- Strong knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power distribution, transformers, UPS systems, standby generation and critical power infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of electrical standards, codes and industry best practices.
- Experience delivering resilient, cost-effective engineering solutions through value engineering.
- Knowledge of building management systems, energy management systems and electromechanical integration.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies including AI-driven infrastructure and edge computing is advantageous.
- Excellent technical leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams, manage stakeholders and deliver complex projects.
