Associate Director – Fire Safety Consultancy
Salary: Competitive + Benefits (incl 9 day fortnight)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fire safety professional to join a growing consultancy in a senior leadership capacity.
This role is ideally suited to an established Associate Director, Principal Consultant, Technical Manager, Senior Fire Risk Assessor or Fire Safety Consultant looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the strategic growth of the business, leading technical delivery, developing client relationships and mentoring a growing team.
The Role
As an Associate Director, you will be responsible for supporting the operational and commercial success of the consultancy while maintaining the highest technical standards across all areas of service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and overseeing the delivery of fire risk assessments, fire safety audits, fire strategies and wider fire safety consultancy projects across a diverse range of sectors.
• Acting as a senior technical authority, providing guidance, mentorship and quality assurance support to consultants and project teams.
• Reviewing, approving and signing off technical reports and consultancy deliverables.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on fire safety matters.
• Supporting business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities and contributing to strategic growth plans.
• Managing project delivery, resource allocation and team utilisation to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management and the ongoing development of technical staff.
• Leading internal and external training sessions, technical presentations and CPD activities.
• Monitoring changes to legislation, industry guidance and best practice to ensure continued compliance and technical excellence.
• Representing the business in meetings with clients, regulators, contractors, design teams and key stakeholders.
• Supporting collaboration across fire risk, fire engineering and passive fire protection disciplines.
Requirements
• Significant experience within fire safety consultancy, fire risk management or fire engineering.
• Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, industry guidance and regulatory compliance.
• Experience leading teams, managing projects and overseeing technical delivery.
• Excellent client facing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with an interest in supporting business growth and development.
• Experience reviewing and signing off technical reports and consultancy outputs.
• Relevant fire safety qualifications and professional memberships would be advantageous.
