Interim Commercial & Technology Lawyer (6-Month Contract)

Our client is a leading international retail group operating across multiple well-known home improvement and trade brands in Europe. With a strong presence spanning physical stores, e-commerce, and digital platforms, the organisation is undergoing significant transformation across its technology, data, and customer experience functions.

The legal team plays a key role in supporting large-scale digital initiatives, supplier ecosystems, and complex commercial arrangements across multiple jurisdictions. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly commercial, with close alignment to procurement, technology, and product teams.

The Role

This is a 6-month interim position for a mid-level lawyer to support both commercial contracting and technology/digital matters. The role will sit within a collaborative in-house legal team and report into a senior commercial/technology legal lead.

The successful candidate will work across a broad range of contractual matters, combining traditional commercial agreements with technology-focused workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, services agreements, and framework arrangements
  • Advising on technology and digital contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud, data, and IT outsourcing agreements
  • Supporting procurement and business stakeholders on strategic projects and day-to-day contractual queries
  • Providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in a fast-moving retail environment
  • Assisting with contract standardisation and process improvements
  • Liaising with cross-functional teams including technology, digital, procurement, and product

Candidate Profile

  • UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with c. 3–6 PQE (flexible)
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to technology/digital agreements
  • In-house or private practice background (or a blend of both)
  • Ability to operate independently and manage a varied workload
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic, and comfortable working with non-legal stakeholders
  • Experience in retail, technology, or consumer-focused sectors is desirable but not essential

Additional Information

  • 6-month initial contract
  • Hybrid working model
  • Immediate or short notice availability preferred
