We are looking for a Head of Sales who can elevate commercial performance across Grocery, Specialist Retail, Ecommerce and Export channels. Someone who understands how to balance growth with margin, who can bring structure and clarity to commercial execution, and who knows how to build high-performing teams in a multi-channel FMCG environment.
This role will own the end-to-end sales strategy and delivery, with responsibility for pricing, promotional effectiveness, trade investment, mix optimisation and customer relationships. It requires someone who can operate at both strategic and hands-on level; setting direction while also ensuring execution is strong and consistent across all channels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and delivering the overall UK and international sales strategy across all channels
- Driving profitable growth through improved margin, mix and commercial discipline
- Leading and developing a multi-layered sales organisation across Grocery, Specialist Retail, Ecommerce and Export
- Owning and improving pricing, promotional strategy and trade investment effectiveness
- Building strong senior-level customer relationships and driving a challenger mindset with key retail partners
- Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and NPD to align strategy and execution
- Developing capability and succession within the sales organisation
We are looking for a leader who can bring both commercial edge and emotional intelligence. Someone who is confident enough to challenge constructively, but grounded enough to build trust and alignment in a founder-led environment.
The successful candidate will likely be:
- A proven FMCG sales leader with strong Grocery exposure (Top 4 experience highly desirable)
- Experienced across multiple channels
- Commercially sharp with a strong track record of delivering profitable growth, not just revenue
- A confident negotiator with senior customer relationships
- Skilled in leading and developing high-performing sales teams
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, less structured, entrepreneurial environments
- Ideally experienced within manufacturing-led or branded FMCG businesses
