ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is a world-leading engineering and technology organisation delivering advanced solutions across the defence, aerospace and space sectors. Working on innovative satellite communications programmes spanning land, sea and air domains, you will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for developing mission-critical communications capabilities. Due to continued programme demand, they are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the full systems engineering lifecycle.
THE SYSTEMS ENGINEER ROLE:
As a Systems Engineer, you will support the development of satellite communications solutions through the full system lifecycle, from concept and requirements capture through to integration, verification and operational deployment.
You will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders, defining system requirements, developing architectures, conducting systems analysis and supporting verification and validation activities. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and operational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Stakeholder needs analysis and requirements capture
- System requirements definition and management
- Systems architecture development and validation
- Systems modelling and analysis
- Trade-off studies and solution selection
- Interface definition and management
- Verification, validation and integration activities
- Operational readiness and transition support
- Impact assessment of engineering changes throughout the lifecycle
- Supporting systems engineering best practice and governance
SYSTEMS ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proven Systems Engineering experience across the full engineering lifecycle
- Experience with requirements capture management and validation
- Strong background in systems architecture and design
- Experience with Verification, Validation and Integration (V&V)
- Ability to conduct systems analysis and trade-off studies
- Understanding of stakeholder needs analysis and mission/business analysis
- Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and processes
- Experience working within complex engineering environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Satellite Communications (SATCOM) experience
- Defence, Space or Aerospace sector experience
- Knowledge of military communications systems
- Understanding of military standards
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
- Membership of the IET or equivalent professional body
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline
