Mechanical Team Lead
We are seeking a Mechanical Team Lead to join a high-performing engineering organisation developing cutting-edge, complex technology products. This role is fundamentally a technical leadership position, responsible for guiding, mentoring, and developing a team of mechanical engineers while remaining actively involved in hands-on engineering delivery.
You will act as the technical anchor for the mechanical function, setting engineering direction, establishing best practice, and ensuring consistently high standards across multiple concurrent development programmes. This is a role for a credible, experienced engineer who leads from the front and raises the technical capability of those around them.
What we’re looking for
- Experience leading or technically guiding mechanical engineering teams
- Strong background in complex product development within high-tech industries
- Deep mechanical design expertise across full product lifecycle
- Experience with precision engineering and complex assemblies (optical systems beneficial)
- Strong design for manufacture knowledge (machined parts, sheet metal, precision assemblies)
- SolidWorks proficiency (FEA/simulation experience advantageous)
- Hands-on engineer with the ability to influence, guide, and elevate others
- Strong communicator with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
