Test & Validation Senior Engineer (Metallurgical)

Location: Peterborough (Fully Onsite)

Contract: 12 Months (Likely to Extend)

Rate: £50.44 per hour inside IR35

We’re recruiting for an experienced Test & Validation Senior Engineer (Metallurgical) to join a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Materials or Metallurgical Engineer to take on a senior technical role, providing specialist engineering support across multiple UK manufacturing sites. You’ll investigate material and manufacturing issues, support product development, lead testing and validation activities, and act as a technical mentor to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide metallurgical and materials engineering expertise across manufacturing operations.
  • Investigate material failures and manufacturing defects, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Evaluate new products, processes and materials.
  • Lead testing and validation activities to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement and the introduction of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and communicate technical findings to a range of stakeholders.

About You

You’ll have:

  • A degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience within a materials or metallurgical laboratory environment.
  • Experience evaluating materials, products and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to provide technical guidance and influence engineering decisions.

Experience within automotive, aerospace, defence, nuclear, heavy manufacturing, steel or foundry environments would be advantageous.

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

Interview: One-stage, face-to-face interview.
