About the Role
Oikos are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Technician to join our onsite team
This is a hands-on role within a highly regulated, industrial environment. You’ll play a key part in maintaining critical assets at a key fuel terminal. This role is ideal for a practical, time-served engineer who values safety, reliability and technical excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain mechanical equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand / power tools & test apparatus.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect Mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Direct and support contractors to install, maintain, or repair mechanical equipment, and fixtures.
- Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain process components and assets
- Contribute to the preparation of permits as part of “control of work” system – e.g. Mechanical isolations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge and experience of the installation, calibration and maintenance of Mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Control of Work systems.
- Ability to understand technical drawings e.g. P&IDs, equipment diagrams
- Ability to work at height.
- Understanding of safety and environmental legislation applicable for the industry.
