We are partnering with a highly respected, award-winning UK engineering consultancy to find a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer to join their thriving Rail Advisory team in Watford. This is an agile, multi-disciplinary environment where you will lead high-profile infrastructure projects and act as a key technical authority.
What you’ll be doing:
* Technical Leadership: Leading the civil and structural design for complex rail infrastructure (bridges, stations, lineside structures, and retaining walls) from concept to detailed delivery.
* Asset Protection & Approvals: Navigating and securing critical technical approvals with Network Rail and Transport for London (TfL) using BAPA and APA frameworks.
* Team Development: Mentoring and signing off on calculations for senior, graduate, and technician-level engineers.
* Client Engagement: Managing project timelines, commercial budgets, and maintaining direct, high-value client relationships.
What we’re looking for:
* 6 to 10 years of dedicated post-graduate experience within UK civil/structural rail engineering.
* Fully Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE or PWI.
* Direct, proven experience delivering projects under Network Rail or TfL frameworks and standards.
* Strong commercial acumen and the ability to handle client-facing responsibilities.
