Senior Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a cutting-edge space engineering team developing high-precision mechanical systems for space applications. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex mechanical designs used in demanding launch and orbital environments, where performance, reliability, and manufacturability are critical.
You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to analysis, testing, qualification, and production release, playing a key role in delivering hardware that must survive extreme mechanical and thermal conditions.
This is a technically challenging role where you will collaborate closely with systems, thermal, and electronics engineers, contributing to integrated space hardware solutions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical design within aerospace, space, defence, or other high-precision engineering environments
- Strong CAD capability (preferably SolidWorks) for detailed mechanical design and manufacturing definition
- Experience using FEA and/or analytical hand calculations to support engineering decisions
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM), particularly CNC machining and precision metal components
- Proven ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings with GD&T and tight tolerances
- Experience working on alignment-critical or opto-mechanical systems would be highly advantageous
- Strong problem-solving ability in complex, high-reliability engineering environments
