Hardware Engineer – FPGA/VHDL | Hampshire | Permanent
Some engineering roles keep you busy. Others keep you sharp.
This one sits firmly in the second category.
We’re working with a Hampshire-based engineering business on a permanent Hardware Engineer hire – a technically demanding role that sits at the intersection of digital design, PCB development, and long-term product integrity.
The Role
You’ll be working across the full hardware lifecycle – from FPGA and VHDL design through to PCB layout and into the less glamorous but business-critical world of component obsolescence management. The work is varied, the problems are real, and the output matters.
Day to day, you can expect to be:
- Designing and developing FPGA-based solutions using VHDL
- Creating and reviewing PCB designs in Altium Designer
- Supporting obsolescence investigations and managing end-of-life component strategies
- Collaborating with systems and software engineers to deliver integrated hardware solutions
- Producing technical documentation to a high standard
What We’re Looking For
- Proven FPGA design experience with strong VHDL capability
- Hands-on PCB design using Altium Designer
- Exposure to obsolescence management – understanding component lifecycles, finding alternatives, mitigating risk
- A methodical, detail-oriented approach to engineering
- Experience in a regulated or complex engineering environment is advantageous
If you’re an FPGA-focused Hardware Engineer looking for your next long-term move, I’d like to hear from you.
