We’re delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Shift Engineer to join their Engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in keeping machinery, equipment and facilities operating at peak performance.

Working closely with the Head of Engineering and Production teams, you’ll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

As a Shift Engineer, you’ll be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance activities, ensuring production equipment remains safe, reliable and efficient.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults

• Responding to equipment breakdowns and minimising production downtime

• Conducting routine machinery inspections and maintenance checks

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and performance

• Working closely with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities effectively

• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation

• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across the site

• Assisting with risk assessments, permits to work and safe systems of work

• Ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures

• Supporting training and development of colleagues where required

• Participating in call-out and additional shift cover when necessary

We’re looking for a proactive engineer who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a manufacturing environment.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer role

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

• Experience maintaining production machinery and plant equipment

• A good understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programmes

• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures

• The ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively under pressure

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Manufacturing or production environment experience

• FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Packaging, Industrial or Process Manufacturing background

• Electrical qualifications (18th Edition, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent)

• Mechanical maintenance experience

• Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS)
