Senior Pensions Consultant (Defined Benefit Pensions)

We are partnering with a leading pensions consulting organisation to appoint an experienced Senior Pensions Consultant to join a highly respected and collaborative actuarial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established pensions professional who has strong experience within the Defined Benefit (DB) pensions sector and enjoys working directly with trustees, pension scheme managers, and senior stakeholders on complex strategic projects.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Pensions Consultant, you will play a key role in advising trustee clients on a wide range of strategic pensions matters while managing client relationships and leading the delivery of high-quality actuarial and consulting services.
You will work closely with senior consultants and partners, providing expert guidance on funding, risk management, scheme strategy, and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise trustee clients on strategic pensions issues including:
- Actuarial valuations and funding negotiations
- Integrated risk management
- Risk transfer and settlement projects
- PPF levy management
- Member option exercises
- Lead day-to-day client relationships and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery.
- Support senior leaders in managing larger and more complex client accounts.
- Direct and project manage significant pensions projects, including valuations and factor reviews.
- Review technical work and ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
- Build and maintain relationships within the pensions market and wider industry.
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives and business development activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified actuary (or equivalent senior pensions consulting experience).
- Significant experience within the Defined Benefit pensions consulting market.
- Strong track record of managing client relationships and delivering consulting services.
- Excellent technical pensions knowledge and strategic advisory capability.
- Experience engaging with trustees, pension scheme managers, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor colleagues, and work collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Commercially minded with a proactive and client-focused approach.
