Estimator – Substation Projects (33kV+)

Location: UK (Hybrid/Site as required)

Rate: £450-£550 per day

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to support a new substation connection project. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team working on critical power infrastructure, contributing to high-value utility and energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for substation and connection works
• Review tender documentation, drawings, and technical specifications
• Produce detailed BOQs, cost breakdowns, and pricing submissions
• Liaise with engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to validate assumptions and costs
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within project estimates
• Support bid submissions and client clarifications
• Ensure all estimates align with project scope, timelines, and commercial requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator within substation or power infrastructure projects
• Mandatory experience working on 33kV (or higher voltage) projects
• Strong understanding of new connections and substation builds
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Familiar with UK utilities standards and construction methodologies
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Proficient in estimation tools and Excel

Desirable

• Experience working with DNO/IDNO projects
• Electrical engineering background or relevant qualification
