Automation Engineer

Blackfield Associates are partnering with a world leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in their search for DeltaV Engineers.

This role is primarily site-based, requiring attendance on-site 4 days per week to support operational activities, troubleshooting, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain DeltaV systems across manufacturing and process environments
• Perform system configuration, modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities
• Develop and maintain control modules, batch logic, graphics, alarms, and historian interfaces
• Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities in line with GMP requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Validation, QA, and Maintenance
• Investigate automation issues and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Participate in change control, deviation investigations, and documentation updates
• Assist with automation improvement projects focused on reliability, efficiency, and compliance
• Support system lifecycle management, backups, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery activities
• Ensure all work complies with site safety standards and regulatory requirements

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on DeltaV engineering experience within pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing
• Strong understanding of DeltaV systems and process automation principles
• Experience working in GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of batch processing, process control strategies, and instrumentation integration
• Familiarity with validation documentation including IQ/OQ/PQ and change management processes
• Ability to troubleshoot automation and control system issues in a live production environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Automation, Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
