Proposal Engineer

Location: Hybrid – Portland, Dorset (Osprey Quay)

At G3 Systems, we design and deliver deployable infrastructure for defence, government and humanitarian customers operating in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

We’re looking for a Proposal Engineer to join our Business Development team, helping shape technical solutions and turn customer requirements into winning proposals. You’ll work closely with engineers, project managers and suppliers to develop high-quality submissions that support business growth.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across a variety of opportunities, supporting the development of technical proposals from initial enquiry through to submission.

You will:

  • Review customer requirements, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Coordinate technical inputs from engineering, project delivery, commercial and supply chain teams.
  • Support the development of solution concepts for deployable infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare proposal documentation including scopes of work, technical descriptions, assumptions and compliance matrices.
  • Assist with cost estimation and programme development activities.
  • Support bid reviews and proposal governance processes.
  • Liaise with customers and subcontractors to clarify technical and commercial requirements.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering, technical or project-related discipline.
  • Strong written communication and document preparation skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and CAD-generated documentation.
  • Experience producing technical documentation, reports, proposals or similar deliverables.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Eligible for, or able to obtain, Security Clearance.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in bid, proposal or tender preparation.
  • Defence or engineering sector experience.
  • Ability to coordinate information from multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project planning principles.
  • Familiarity with technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience supporting customer presentations or bid reviews.

Location & Working Pattern

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with time split between home working and at our Portland, Dorset office based at Osprey Quay.
