About the Company

Qualified Residential Support Worker

Location: Green Lane, Leigh

Salary: £27,999.72 – £29,428.49 (DOE), £101 sleep in rate

Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Residential Support Worker to join a brand-new team at a 2-bed children’s home in Leigh. This is a great opportunity to be part of setting up a new service and making a real difference from day one. The home supports children with SEMH, EBD and learning difficulties, so we’re looking for someone who is confident, compassionate and able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries. You’ll be part of a supportive team, working under an experienced Registered Manager, helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where young people can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the home
  • Building positive routines, structure and boundaries
  • Developing trusting relationships with young people
  • Promoting independence, confidence and resilience
  • Managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation techniques
  • Ensuring safeguarding and child protection standards are followed at all times
  • Working with families and professionals such as social workers, education and health teams
  • Completing accurate care records and documentation
  • Keeping the safety and wellbeing of young people as a top priority

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a residential or care setting

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Knowledge of child development and young people’s needs
  • Ability to build professional, positive relationships
  • Calm, resilient and able to handle challenging situations

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a similar role
