Head of Conflicts | London (EC2N) | up to £130k with hybrid working
A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Conflicts to join its Risk & Compliance function. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a conflicts specialist to take ownership of the firm’s conflicts framework, drive operational improvements and support the delivery of a best-in-class risk function.
Reporting to the Risk & Compliance Partner, the successful candidate will lead a significant programme of change, enhancing conflicts processes and procedures across the firm’s global operations, including the implementation of improvements linked to conflicts technology and systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a large-scale review and enhancement of the firm’s conflicts processes, including conducting gap analysis and implementing improvements.
- Managing complex conflicts of interest and confidentiality issues arising from client matters, lateral hires and business activity.
- Advising partners and senior stakeholders on conflicts, confidentiality and professional obligations.
- Drafting waivers, consent language and updates to conflicts-related provisions within the firm’s terms of business.
- Developing and maintaining conflicts policies, procedures and guidance.
- Delivering training to partners and staff globally on conflicts and confidentiality matters.
- Providing regular reporting and insight to management, committees and senior stakeholders.
- Building and leading a team of conflicts analysts, supporting their development and performance.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer or an experienced conflicts professional with substantial experience gained within an international law firm environment. You will have a strong understanding of professional conduct requirements, conflicts management and risk assessment, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Key skills and experience required:
- Significant experience in a conflicts, risk or equivalent role within a law firm.
- Proven people management and team-building experience.
- Strong project management skills with experience delivering process improvements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Hands-on experience with conflicts technology, particularly the IntApp suite, is highly desirable.
