Project Manager – BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) | Utility-Scale EPC

We are supporting a leading international EPC contractor in the renewable energy sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to deliver utility-scale energy infrastructure projects across the UK.

Location: UK (Hybrid with site travel)

The Role

You will take full ownership of project delivery from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Working within a high-performing EPC environment, you will collaborate with internal engineering, construction, and commercial teams, while managing key relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full project lifecycle from development through to handover
  • Develop and maintain detailed programmes of works (PoW)
  • Oversee project budgets, cost control, and financial reporting
  • Lead coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and RFQ processes
  • Conduct site visits and oversee construction progress
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE and regulatory standards
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and change control
  • Prepare and deliver client-facing progress reports
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across internal and external teams

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or similar)
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience delivering utility-scale energy or infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience in BESS / Energy Storage projects (essential)
  • Proven track record within EPC environments
  • Experience managing budgets, programmes, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
  • Proficient with MS Project (Primavera P6 advantageous)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site
  • PMP / PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience across both solar PV and energy storage projects
