Overview
An established, international IT solutions business is building out its UK presence, and the bids are coming in faster than the team can chase them. They need someone to own that: to spot the right opportunities across defence and government, build the case to win, and write the bids that land them. This is a rare chance to shape how a growing business pursues and wins work, rather than slot into someone else’s machine. You’ll have real autonomy, real ownership, and a direct line to leadership.
What you’ll actually do
- Hunt out and qualify the right opportunities across UK defence and government.
- Build the win strategy: how to position, who to partner with, how to beat the competition.
- Write and lead compelling, compliant bid and proposal responses end to end.
- Own the framework pipeline, keeping the business positioned and ready to bid.
- Pull together the technical, commercial and legal input that makes a bid land on time.
What you’ll bring
- A track record in bid and proposal management, ideally with capture and pursuit experience.
- Defence sector experience (this one’s essential).
- A background in IT, technology or systems integration, so you understand how this world sells.
- Genuinely strong writing: you can make a complex solution clear and persuasive.
- The drive to chase and shape opportunities, not just respond to them.
Worth knowing
The role is Manchester-based with hybrid flexibility. Given the markets the business operates in, you should be eligible for, and comfortable undergoing, UK security clearance.
