About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple UK locations. The role involves managing the full project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design for infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects, such as water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, and pumping stations.
- Manage the full project life cycle, including feasibility studies, optioneering, detailed design, and construction support.
- Conduct site surveys and investigations to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners, and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, ideally holding Chartered status or working toward it.
- Significant experience in detailed design within the water industry.
- Background working for or with delivery contractors is beneficial.
- Experience with line management responsibilities is preferred.
