Overview

Senior Trackside Engineer – Trackside Controls Engineer at Alpine Racing Limited, Enstone.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to deploy, operate, and continuously improve the car’s control systems during race events and key test activities. In this high‑pressure environment, your expertise will ensure that control software, hardware, and processes perform flawlessly, directly influencing race execution, car performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, configuration, and operation of car control systems at the race track and during test events.
  • Deploy and maintain ECU software, control strategies, and calibration sets in line with race‑weekend requirements.
  • Collaborate with race engineering, performance, power unit, and factory‑based controls teams to deliver seamless trackside support.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex control‑system and integration issues under tight time pressure during events.
  • Support live car operation, fault investigation, and data analysis to ensure maximum availability and performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of control architectures, tools, and operational processes across factory and trackside environments.
  • Provide feedback from trackside operations to guide development and validation activities at the factory.

Requirements

We seek a highly motivated engineer with experience in F1 or other high‑level motorsport environments. You should thrive under pressure, possess strong attention to detail, and take ownership of critical systems in high‑stakes situations.

Key qualifications:

  • Experience with control systems, embedded software, ECU configuration, and race‑car electronics.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle systems and race engineering operations.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools, data analysis, and scripting (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Passion for motorsport and a calm, methodical approach under pressure.
