Procurement Assistant

API Holdings Ltd has three engineering based subsidiary companies whose expertise span across a variety of engineering specialties. API Engineering specialises in the design and manufacture of capital equipment and tooling for the steel, agricultural and oil and gas industries. Much of their work is complimentary to sister company PPI Engineering whose expertise lies with rotating electrical machines and on‑site service work. API Holdings also has a wholly owned subsidiary API Capacitors which is the last UK manufacturer of power capacitors. Much of the work API Holdings completes provides diverse opportunity and challenges.

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic school leaver to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career and looking to gain valuable experience in administration and procurement while developing professional skills. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will support our procurement function, helping to ensure goods and services are purchased efficiently and records are maintained accurately. You will be working for an organisation that is expending rapidly in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering and have a great opportunity to step into a thriving industry.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best overall cost and terms
  • Supporting the procurement team with raising purchase orders
  • Requesting and comparing quotes, raising purchase orders, and tracking deliveries
  • Tackling challenges internally and with the supplier base
  • Developing commercial awareness and industry knowledge from day one
  • General administrative and clerical duties within purchasing and finance departments

The Candidate

  • Interest in business, administration, or procurement.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Good literacy and maths.
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
  • Don’t be afraid of applying if there are some aspects that you don’t necessarily comply with as character and drive are more important factors than experience and skills at this stage.
