Work Culture
37‑hour working week, though hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site‑specific arrangements. Early finish on Fridays at 1.30pm allows you to start your weekend early. Role Summary
Reporting to the Finance Manager within the ACTS (Army Collective Training Service) Programme, the Finance Analyst will support the delivery of high‑quality, accurate and actionable financial analysis and insight to the Finance and Programme teams. The role involves supporting the development of the AOP and 5‑Year Plan, as well as Quarterly EACs, monthly forecasting and variance analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce weekly and monthly reporting for all elements of the ACTS Programme.
- Support the achievement of all metrics (bookings, sales, profit, cash).
- Assist in establishing the AOP and five‑year plan targets.
- Support the Program Execution Team with quarterly Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting.
- Support new business proposals for Gate Reviews, including pricing, basis‑of‑estimate generation, foreign exchange management and risks and opportunities management.
- Act as the financial conscience of the business and ensure Business and Financial Policy adherence.
- Provide financial insight to support the business risk and opportunities process (development, analysis, mitigation and review).
- Build a network with all stakeholders.
- Balance multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
- Communicate complex financial information to non‑finance staff across varying functions and levels.
- Champion best practice and look to improve systems and processes.
- Conduct ad‑hoc financial analysis and decision support.
Essential Qualifications
- AAT qualified / Part Qualified
- CIMA (Preferred) / ACCA
- 2+ relevant years’ experience in finance roles
- Project accounting experience
- Business partnering skills, working across different internal functions
- Relevant commercial experience in a similar defence or complex contracting environment
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience of working with SAP, Power BI, MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Proactive, analytical and inquisitive mindset
- Attention to detail and process adherence
- Highly organised and self‑motivated
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
