This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 30 hours per week.

Join our passionate and dedicated psychiatric liaison team, where you can make a real difference in the lives of young people. As part of our dynamic team, you will be part of a vital mental health liaison and assessment service to the Paediatric and Accident and Emergency Departments at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, delivering comprehensive care on a 7-day-a-week basis. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to improving mental health services for children aged 11-17.

We will consider applicants who want to undertake a developmental post or secondment.

The successful applicant must have the necessary professional qualification, including current registration as outlined in the person specification.

It is a community-based post and therefore a valid UK driving licence plus the use of your own transport for business purposes is essential.

  • Offer an assessment service to individual patients aged 11-17 presenting at hospital departments with a broad range of mental health and psychological needs.
  • Provide a mental health consultation, liaison and advice service throughout the hospital departments.
  • Deliver a range of evidence-based psychological interventions to individual patients aged 11-17 who have predominantly self-harmed.
  • Assist and support general hospital colleagues in making decisions about care and treatment in complex situations.
  • Provide formal and informal education and clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff.
  • Represent mental health services within the Hospital Trust.
  • Provide a communication structure between secondary mental health services, primary care and non‑statutory services, ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care.
