Project Controls Engineer
Location: You will be based in London and may be required at times to travel to Birmingham.
Role responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly project performance reports to suit both internal and external reporting requirements.
- Support with performing Earned Value Analysis and preparing related reports.
- Support in monitoring Key Performance Indicators with the Contractor.
- Help maintain project documentation including change logs, risk registers, and cost reports.
- Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project information.
- Ensure project data is accurately recorded in project management systems.
- Provide administrative and analytical support to the project controls team.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience as a Project Controls assistant/engineer on medium‑scale projects.
- Basic understanding of project management principles (EVM, project planning or risk management concepts).
- Experience in working on NEC 3 or 4 projects.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
- Ability to perform assignments independently with supervision and guidance as required.
- Ability to deliver timely high‑quality reports.
- Taking initiative and approaching challenges with a solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to build positive relationships and liaise with a number of different stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification or NVQ equivalent level.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar software.
