Sunday to Wednesday, 8:00pm – 8:00am

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nightshift Supervisor to oversee night operations within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will lead and support a team of production operatives, manage workflow in line with production plans, promote a strong health and safety culture, and ensure all operational and quality procedures are consistently followed. Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, this position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor looking to develop their career within a growing manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support production operatives throughout the night shift, ensuring workloads and resources are allocated effectively to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct performance reviews, support employee development, manage attendance and absence, carry out return‑to‑work interviews, approve holidays, and assist with disciplinary procedures where necessary.
  • Communicate daily production plans and priorities to the team, monitor progress against schedules, and ensure efficient use of labour and equipment.
  • Address production issues promptly to minimise downtime, support the movement of materials between production and warehouse areas, and accurately record production outputs and waste figures.
  • Provide detailed shift handovers and performance updates to management.
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety‑first culture, ensuring all employees follow health, safety, and environmental procedures, support risk assessments and safe systems of work, and contribute to continuous safety improvements.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards through a clean‑as‑you‑go approach, ensure visitors and contractors comply with site safety requirements, and identify and report hazards, near‑misses, and safety concerns.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality standards and specifications while maintaining compliance with site procedures, work instructions, and operational standards.
  • Complete and maintain production and quality documentation accurately, support investigations into quality concerns, implement corrective actions, and monitor adherence to production processes and quality requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety; participate in continuous improvement projects, support the implementation of new processes, and assist with root‑cause investigations and problem‑solving activities.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants should have previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing or production environment and experience working within a fast‑paced production setting. Strong leadership, people management, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with good analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Candidates must be able to work independently, make effective decisions, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and maintain a high commitment to quality. Competent IT and PC skills are required, together with a flexible and proactive approach to work.

Desirable Qualifications and Training

  • Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence (training can be provided for the right candidate).
  • First Aid qualification.
  • IOSH Health & Safety training.
  • HACCP awareness, food or manufacturing compliance training.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
