Job Summary
Are you experienced in data management, environmental monitoring, or water quality systems? This could be your opportunity to take the next step as a Data Team Leader, supporting the delivery of high‑quality water quality monitoring across SOCOTEC’s Monitoring & Surveying Division.
As SOCOTEC grows, we’re looking for a motivated and organised Data Team Leader to oversee our Water Quality data team, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable monitoring outputs across multiple projects and locations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily water quality data reporting from instrumentation including sondes, river flow monitors, and rain gauges.
- Coordinate and manage an offshore (Vietnam-based) team carrying out overnight site checks and maintenance verification.
- Ensure all sites are checked daily and any data issues, anomalies, or equipment faults are escalated promptly.
- Monitor performance against the 72‑hour maintenance KPI and escalating issues where required.
- Support Data Analysts to deliver accurate, timely, and high‑quality outputs.
- Ensure customer SLAs and internal KPIs are consistently met.
- Produce water quality reports to client and regulatory specifications.
- Support training, coaching, and development of team members.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, productivity, and data quality.
- Liaise with Project Managers, clients, and operational teams to resolve queries efficiently.
- Maintain team motivation and performance across a geographically dispersed workforce.
Qualifications
- Experience in water quality monitoring, telemetry systems, or environmental data management.
- Strong understanding of water quality parameters and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage or coordinate teams, including remote or offshore teams.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all levels and locations.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency or familiarity with data platforms such as Blue Trust Monitoring and HydroSphere (desirable).
- Knowledge of water industry instrumentation (e.g. sondes, AquaHawk systems) (desirable).
