Overview

General Operative

Location: AASC West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England

Salary: £27,500, plus Serco Benefits

Contract: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to: Field Operations Manager

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of property: provide general maintenance services and report faults using the AORA IT system to ensure faults are reported and closed for the property portfolio; ensure all properties are compliant and fit for purpose when completing tasks
  • Health & Safety: ensure the safety of all users from a building standard; check relevant property reports before undertaking works (e.g., asbestos, dangerous persons) or request additional reports as deemed appropriate; ensure works comply with risk assessments and method statements
  • Furniture & Inventory: repair Serco‑supplied furniture where possible or replace to comply with the Home Office Contract
  • Materials Management: purchase materials/PPE from approved Serco suppliers and keep receipts; use only approved Serco standard materials unless substitutions are required by stock
  • Purchase: obtain supervisor approval for tool purchases; ensure receipts are obtained and recorded for each property/job
  • Waste Disposal: remove waste from works in properties; dispose in approved licensed areas and recycle where possible
  • Garden Maintenance: undertake garden maintenance duties for properties within the defined remit
  • Work Scheduling & Prioritisation: complete allocated KPI work before the scheduled date; proceed to other maintenance defects to meet contract standards; complete planned maintenance when defects are resolved
  • Working Hours: various work patterns; 8 hours a day on patch; 8am to 6pm flexibility

Requirements

  • General DIY experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK
  • Valid UK driving licence is essential
