Role
Electrical Shift Engineer
Responsibilities
Operational understanding of all MEP systems within the Critical Facility/Data Centre in a competent and confident manner (Biased towards Electrical within the facility). Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
Ensure Specialist Vendors service visits are completed efficiently; assess quality of work and communicate recommendations to the Duty Shift Leader and Service Delivery Manager.
Provide engineering shift relief cover during annual leave, training or other absence. Maintain minimum staffing arrangements and cover the opposite shift when required.
Accurately report all completed work orders, including recording of critical spares/stock items used.
Attend Weekly Team meetings and Quarterly Team Meetings when scheduled.
Complete shift handover reports, noting significant events or activities for oncoming shifts and management.
Actively participate in Health and Safety compliance activities, including Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and Toolbox Talks.
Liaise with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial/corrective works.
Take ownership of areas (including all plant rooms) under control, ensuring they are maintained to required show site standards.
Evaluate and escalate potential risks with assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities.
Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Complete Reactive, Planned & Corrective Work Orders in line with SFG20 and ensure asset reliability through high maintenance standards.
Escalate all ONWH Alarm Notifications in line with agreed escalation procedures for EMEA MEP operations.
Accurate completion of Corrigo Work Orders allocated for completion by the CMMS, including accurate capture of time spent and clear details of works undertaken, with accurate data input.
Undertake duties of an Authorised Person in required disciplines to support site requirements.
Production of Site-Specific SOP/MOP/EOP.
Efficient and effective completion of Corrigo Work Orders allocated, ensuring acknowledgment and completion within SLA.
Personal Specification & Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Critical Environments such as Banking HQ and Data Centres.
(Desirable) Authorised Person (High Voltage & Low Voltage).
Electrical/Mechanical Engineering UK Level 3 Qualification or equivalent (apprenticeship completed).
18th Edition IET: Wiring and Installation. (Electrical Biased).
(Desirable) C&G 2391 Inspection, Test and Certification (Or equivalent). BS 7671 (Current Edition).
Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
Ability to lead, motivate and direct a small team of engineers.
Willingness to attend on- and off-site training for MEP assets, including Authorised Person Training (may require nights away).
Ability to comprehend and act upon verbal and written instructions.
Enthusiasm, pro-activity, diligence and alertness, with willingness to participate in internal training programmes.
Integrity, honesty and punctuality are expected.
