Service Manager – Outreach | Southend | 37 hours | £38,735
The Role
The Service Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, and operational delivery of Outreach and Day Centre services. The role ensures high-quality, trauma-informed support is delivered within safe and psychologically informed environments, helping individuals access support, accommodation pathways, and improved wellbeing outcomes.
The post holder will oversee service performance, safeguarding, staff development, partnership working, and continuous service improvement while ensuring compliance with organisational and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage Outreach and Day Centre services, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred support.
- Promote trauma-informed and psychologically informed practices across all service areas.
- Oversee risk management, safeguarding responses, and crisis intervention.
- Ensure services support recovery, independence, and social inclusion.
Team Management
- Provide leadership and line management to Deputy Managers and service teams.
- Support staff development through supervision, appraisals, recruitment, and training.
- Maintain effective staffing levels and workforce planning.
- Foster a positive culture of accountability, learning, and wellbeing.
Safeguarding & Case Oversight
- Monitor the quality of assessments, support plans, and risk management processes.
- Lead on complex cases and multi-agency safeguarding responses.
- Ensure effective partnership working and information sharing with relevant agencies.
Outreach & Day Centre Operations
- Ensure outreach services are responsive, proactive, and focused on engagement and support.
- Oversee the daily operation of the Day Centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene, and service delivery.
Performance & Partnerships
- Monitor service performance against agreed targets and quality standards.
- Analyse data and reporting to drive service improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with statutory, health, housing, and community partners.
- Represent the service at relevant meetings and forums.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage operational budgets and resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and organisational policies.
- Participate in the management on-call rota and provide leadership cover when required.
Essential Requirements
Experience
- Experience managing frontline support services and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience of safeguarding, crisis intervention, and complex case management.
- Experience working in partnership with statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
- Experience delivering services against performance targets and quality standards.
- Knowledge and application of trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches.
