About the Role

The Assistant Operations Manager reports to the Senior Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in planning, directing, coordinating, and managing Bermex operations. It acts as a liaison between the field, corporate office, and clients while ensuring operational objectives are accomplished through safety, productivity, work quality, techniques, and profit. The role requires a high degree of organization, excellent time management, and exceptional communication skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and assist the operations team: coordinate work schedules, oversee projects, support technicians, line locators, and meter readers, assist personnel when goal targets are not met, train employees, and provide supervisory guidance.
  • Travel as required, including overnight travel, and walk for long distances (up to 30 miles per day) in various weather conditions.
  • Exert physical force moving objects up to 50 lbs when necessary.
  • Act as the liaison between field, corporate, and clients: attend and conduct meetings to ensure contract terms are met, start new contracts, assist the sales team, assist upper management, prepare documents, reports, analyses, and presentations, communicate with customers, refer complaints, and facilitate client communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

Must Haves:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 2 years of field experience in meter reading, natural gas line locating, or leak surveying.

Nice to Haves:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.
  • Experience: 3+ years in meter reading, line locating, or leak surveying and at least 1 year of supervisory or management experience.

Your Skills:

  • Ability to multi‑task and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible with daily routines and able to assist in meter reading, line locating, or leak surveying when needed.
  • Time‑management skills to finish meter reads efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interaction with management and customers.
  • Professional handling of unhappy or negative customers.
  • Attention to detail for problem solving and finding solutions.
  • Ability to walk long distances, prepare for varied weather, and perform duties accordingly.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.).

Drug/Alcohol Testing

  • Drug/alcohol testing is required for employees working with water, electric or meters.
  • Testing required per Non‑Regulatory requirements for such employees.
  • Testing required per Federal DOT regulations for employees working with gas meters.

Where We Work

Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
