The Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Vehicle Development team. This is a rare opportunity to work on bespoke motorsport and high-end automotive components, taking projects from concept through to testing and integration. You’ll own the lifecycle of major vehicle systems, applying first-principles engineering and cutting-edge tools to deliver world-class performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for major vehicle systems, from concept through prototyping, detailed design, analysis, production, and testing.

  • Design and develop components for vehicle sub-systems including suspension, body-in-white, powertrain, aerodynamics, and ancillaries.

  • Create robust, high-quality CAD models using best practices.

  • Perform structural analysis of critical load-bearing components using FEA tools, supported by hand calculations and physical testing.

  • Produce and peer-review outputs including technical drawings, requirements, diagrams, procedures and manuals to the highest standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lead design reviews to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Develop test equipment and procedures for validation of mechanical systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high-performance environment (motorsport, high-end automotive, or aerospace).

  • Advanced proficiency in CAD and PLM software (Siemens NX / Teamcenter preferred).

  • Experience with structural analysis and FEM simulation (Altair Hyperworks preferred).

  • Skilled in producing and reviewing technical drawings (GD&T experience ideal).

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, composites, and additive manufacturing.

  • Detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to thrive under pressure.

  • Strategic thinker with proven ability to make complex decisions.

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge projects in a world-class motorsport environment.

  • Access to advanced facilities including private test tracks and high-tech production equipment.

  • Live and work in one of New Zealand’s most scenic regions.

  • Be part of a passionate team redefining performance engineering.
