Title: Lead Planning Manager
Location: Manchester
Salary: £100-130,000 + car allowance + bonus + package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Planning Manager to join one of the UK’s leading main contractors, taking responsibility for the planning function on a new project based in Manchester, valued at approximately £1 billion.
As Lead Planning Manager, you will take ownership of the project’s planning function, leading a team of seven planners while working closely with the Project Director and senior leadership team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of this complex, high-profile scheme by providing strategic planning leadership, driving programme performance, and supporting key project decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the planning function for a major £1bn construction project.
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of seven planning professionals.
- Develop, maintain and oversee the master programme, ensuring robust planning processes are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide strategic planning advice to the Project Director and senior management team.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies where required.
- Produce detailed progress reports and programme updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with operational, commercial and design teams to ensure programme objectives are achieved.
- Drive best practice planning processes across the project and promote continuous improvement.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- Extensive experience working for a UK main contractor.
- A proven track record in a Lead Planning Manager, Senior Planning Manager or equivalent leadership role.
- Experience delivering major, complex construction projects from inception through to completion.
- Strong leadership skills with previous experience managing and developing planning teams.
- Expert knowledge of construction planning methodologies and programme management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
