Quantity Surveyor

Oxford, Oxfordshire

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of construction projects across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.

This role would suit someone with strong main contractor or regional contractor experience who can manage project costs, subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations, reporting and final accounts, while working closely with project and site teams to protect margin and manage commercial risk.

What you will be doing:

• Managing day-to-day commercial activity across construction projects

• Supporting cost control from early project stage through to final account

• Preparing budgets, forecasts, cost plans and commercial updates

• Supporting subcontractor procurement, tender analysis, negotiation and appointment

• Managing subcontractor accounts, applications, payments, variations and final accounts

• Preparing client valuations, interim applications and supporting commercial documentation

• Identifying and managing variations, change instructions, loss and expense items and commercial risks

• Supporting CVRs, cashflow forecasting, cost-to-complete reporting and margin protection

• Maintaining accurate records, notices, contract correspondence and audit trails

• Working closely with project managers, site managers, estimators, planners, buyers and design teams

What we are looking for:

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor, regional contractor or relevant construction delivery environment

• Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts

• Experience across building projects such as education, commercial, healthcare, leisure, refurbishment, heritage, public sector or private-sector schemes

• Working knowledge of JCT contracts

• Ability to manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting

• Strong communication with site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior commercial stakeholders

• Good commercial record keeping and contract administration discipline

• Relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction qualification, or equivalent industry experience

• Practical location for Oxfordshire project work

• Full UK right to work

Preferred experience:

• Experience on projects valued between £1m and £30m

• JCT Design and Build or traditional contract experience

• Refurbishment, listed building, university, school, healthcare, public-sector or live environment experience

• Experience supporting both pre-construction and live project delivery

• Strong Excel and commercial systems capability

• Evidence of seeing projects through to final account
