TXM are recruiting for a Heavy Vehicle Fitter (Mobile). We are open to applicants from several heavy-engineering backgrounds. For your application, the key message is that they want transferable skills in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.

What the role involves

  • You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing rail freight vehicles, working at different maintenance locations rather than staying at one depot. The role combines mechanical and electrical work and requires working independently while following strict safety procedures.
  • Your main duties include:
  • Carrying out scheduled maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Testing equipment and components to ensure they meet operational standards.
  • Completing maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Following risk assessments, method statements, and company safety procedures.
  • Maintaining clean and safe working environments.
  • Working under the direction of a Team Leader or Production Manager, while also being capable of carrying out maintenance unsupervised.

Essential requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline (such as Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, or Rail Engineering).
  • A full UK driving licence, as the role is mobile and involves travelling between sites.
