Production Planner
Locations: Greater Glasgow (onsite)
Salary: Up to £34,000
Alexander Steele are delighted to be working with a manufacturing business to support the recruitment of a Production Planner.
The Production Planner is responsible for managing daily production planning and acting as the key link between demand planning, manufacturing, and warehousing. This role ensures that production plans are realistic, efficient, and aligned across the business, enabling orders to be delivered on time while balancing service, cost, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage daily and weekly production plans based on demand, capacity, and operational priorities
- Monitor plan execution and adjust in real time to respond to breakdowns, material shortages, or changing demand
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align labour, materials, and resources with the production plan
- Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems and ensure consistent site planning standards
- Act as the key communication link across departments, ensuring plans are understood, achievable, and risks are escalated early
- Work closely with Demand Planning on forecasts, delivery commitments, product changes, and stock management, including ageing stock risks
- Identify constraints, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities to drive planning efficiency and overall site performance
Experience & Skills
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within manufacturing or FMCG
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and intermediate Excel skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills across all levels
- Practical problem solver with the ability to make commercially sound decisions under pressure
