Battersea House is looking for highly qualified, professional tutors to join our growing online tutor network.
We are especially interested in tutors who can confidently teach GCSE and A-Level students across core academic subjects, including Maths, English, Science, Humanities, Languages and other in-demand subjects.
This opportunity is best suited to tutors who are not only excellent teachers, but also professional, responsive and willing to help build trust with parents and students online.
About Battersea House
Battersea House connects families with experienced online tutors who can provide high-quality one-to-one academic support. Our tutors work with students across different ages, levels and subjects, helping them build confidence, close learning gaps and prepare for exams.
We support tutors through our website, parent-facing marketing, tutor profiles, enquiries and promotional content. However, tutors should understand that this is a client-led platform model. Tutors are paid when they are matched with students and deliver lessons through Battersea House.
This is not a salaried teaching role with guaranteed hours. It is an opportunity to join a professional tutoring platform and build your student base through Battersea House.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for tutors who can teach GCSE and/or A-Level curriculum to a high standard.
Successful applicants should have strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills and a professional approach to online tutoring. You should be able to explain topics clearly, adapt to different students and support learners with confidence, revision, exam technique and subject understanding.
We are particularly interested in tutors who are:
- Highly qualified in their subject area
- Experienced teaching or tutoring GCSE and/or A-Level students
- Confident with UK curriculum and exam expectations
- Reliable, organised and highly responsive
- Professional in communication with students, parents and the Battersea House team
- Able to provide a high-quality, professional-looking headshot
- Able to maintain a complete and credible tutor profile
- Active on LinkedIn, or willing to update their LinkedIn profile professionally
- Comfortable supporting some light marketing activity to help parents and students get to know them
Marketing and tutor visibility
Battersea House handles the main marketing for the platform, including website visibility, parent enquiries, online promotion and tutor profile presentation.
However, tutor visibility matters. Parents are more likely to enquire when they can see who a tutor is, what they teach, how they explain things and why they are a good fit for their child.
For this reason, we are especially interested in tutors who are happy to take part in light promotional activity, such as:
- Short “Meet Your Tutor” features
- Brief subject tips for students
- Short videos explaining a topic or revision strategy
- Written advice for parents or students
- Professional tutor spotlight posts
- Ad features using tutor profiles or tutor introductions
You do not need to be a content creator, but you should be willing to help present yourself professionally. Battersea House will guide the format and use your content to support your tutor profile and increase parent trust.
LinkedIn and professional presence
Tutors should have a fully functioning LinkedIn profile, or be willing to create or update one before being listed.
We may also encourage tutors to mention their work with Battersea House on LinkedIn once onboarded, in a way that accurately reflects the role. This may be listed as freelance tutoring, an associated tutor role, or a tutoring partnership, depending on the agreed arrangement.
A strong professional presence helps parents feel more confident when choosing a tutor.
How the platform works
Tutors listed with Battersea House are not guaranteed a fixed number of students or hours. Student enquiries depend on subject demand, tutor availability, profile strength, responsiveness and parent fit.
Battersea House supports tutors by promoting the platform, presenting tutor profiles, handling enquiries and helping families find suitable support. Tutors are expected to support this process by responding quickly, keeping their information up to date and helping us present them professionally.
The tutors who do best on the platform are usually those who are responsive, clear, reliable and willing to help parents understand the value they offer.
