Graduate Automation Engineer Lisburn

Talent Curve Recruitment is partnering with a leading automation and systems integration specialist based in Lisburn to recruit a motivated Graduate Automation Engineer.

This permanent, site-and-office-based role offers an exceptional entry point into industrial automation, control systems engineering, and robotics. The successful candidate will receive structured training, direct mentorship from senior controls engineers, and hands-on exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing projects across the UK and Ireland.

Core Responsibilities

  • Software Support: Assist in the development, programming, and modification of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) software, focusing on industry-standard platforms (such as Siemens TIA Portal or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000).

  • HMI & SCADA Development: Support the design and configuration of intuitive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including electrical schematics, functional design specifications (FDS), and user manuals.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Assist senior engineers with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the workshop and on-site commissioning (SAT) at client manufacturing facilities.

  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Support the service team with basic technical troubleshooting of field networks (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET) and sensor arrays.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Degree or HND (Level 5 or higher) in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Aptitude: A strong logical mindset with a genuine passion for industrial software, controls, and automation systems.

  • Technical Exposure: Academic or internship experience with PLC programming, HMI design, or industrial electrical wiring is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to collaborate with multidisciplinary design and production teams.

  • Logistics: Full, clean UK driving licence (or working towards one) is highly beneficial due to occasional travel to project sites.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: £28,000 £32,000 per annum (Negotiable based on placement or final year project experience).

  • Hours: Monday Friday (Standard day shift with early Friday finishes).

  • Location: Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
