Operations Manager
Remote (UK) | Future Hybrid (Oxford)
£40,000–£45,000 + Benefits + International Travel
Build the operational backbone of an innovative business transforming the future of clean technology.
Not every Operations Manager role is about maintaining existing processes.
Some are about building them.
Our client is an ambitious, international technology business operating at the intersection of engineering, biotechnology and sustainable energy. Following continued growth, they’re looking to appoint an Operations Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping how the business operates as it scales internationally.
Reporting directly to the President of Operations, you’ll become one of the key people responsible for creating the systems, processes and operational infrastructure that support a growing global organisation.
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership naturally and gets genuine satisfaction from making businesses run more efficiently.
The Opportunity
This is a broad, hands-on operational role where you’ll work across multiple business functions rather than sitting within a single department.
You’ll have responsibility across:
- International Logistics
- Procurement & Supplier Management
- IT Coordination
- Operational Systems
- SharePoint & Document Management
- Compliance
- Health & Safety Support
Some areas you’ll own from day one, whilst others you’ll develop alongside senior leadership as the business continues to grow.
If you enjoy solving problems, improving processes and building operational excellence, this role offers genuine autonomy and long-term progression.
Key Responsibilities
International Logistics
Take ownership of the company’s international shipping operations, ensuring products, equipment and materials move efficiently across multiple countries.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing relationships with global logistics providers including DHL, FedEx and other international carriers

- Monitoring deliveries and proactively resolving customs or import/export issues

Develop strong supplier partnerships while helping build scalable procurement processes.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Opening and managing supplier accounts
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms and lead times
- Managing supplier relationships
- Maintaining supplier databases and documentation
- Supporting purchasing activities across the business
- Building procurement processes that support future growth
IT & Business Systems
Act as the internal operational contact for day-to-day technology requirements.
You’ll work closely with an external IT provider to ensure employees have the tools they need to perform effectively.
This includes:
- User access management
- Device coordination
- Software administration
- Managing IT requests
- Supporting new system implementations
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency
Document Management & SharePoint
Support the implementation and maintenance of effective document management systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Organising SharePoint and document libraries
- Developing logical file structures
- Improving document control
- Creating consistent naming conventions
- Supporting information governance across the business
Compliance & Operational Governance
Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll support operational compliance across multiple locations.
This includes:
- Supporting Health & Safety initiatives
- Maintaining compliance documentation
- Monitoring regulatory changes
- Assisting with operational policies
- Supporting audits where required
- Helping ensure operational best practice
About You
We’re looking for someone who enjoys building structure, improving processes and taking ownership.
You’ll be naturally organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
This role would suit someone from an Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain or Business Services background who enjoys working across different areas of a business rather than specialising in one.
You won’t need someone to tell you what to do every day—you’ll identify opportunities, solve problems and make things happen.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience within an Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain or Business Services environment
- Practical experience managing international freight and customs documentation
- Knowledge of global courier providers such as DHL, FedEx or similar
- Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement activities
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills
- Experience creating or improving operational processes
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently within a fast-moving environment
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning new systems
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a start-up or scale-up environment
- International logistics across the UK, Europe and Asia
- SharePoint administration
- ERP or procurement systems
- Compliance or Health & Safety exposure
- Engineering, manufacturing or laboratory environments
What’s On Offer
- £40,000–£45,000 basic salary
- Fully remote working for the first six months
- Future hybrid working (London)
- Flexible working hours with core hours between 10:00am–4:00pm
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- 3% employer pension contribution
- £1,000 annual wellbeing allowance
- International travel across Europe and Asia
- Significant autonomy and ownership
- Direct exposure to senior leadership
- The opportunity to build operational processes from the ground up
- Genuine long-term career progression within a rapidly growing international business
Working Arrangements
The role is fully remote for at least the first six months.
Following the establishment of a Oxford office, the position will move to a hybrid model of up to three days per week in the office, with a minimum of four weeks’ notice before any change.
There will be occasional international travel, including visits across Europe and periodic trips to Asia to support suppliers, manufacturing partners and operational projects.
As with many growing businesses, there may occasionally be periods where additional flexibility is required. In return, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment where your contribution will have a genuine impact on the future direction of the business.
Why Apply?
This isn’t a traditional Operations Manager position.
It’s an opportunity to become one of the people responsible for building the operational foundations of a growing international business.
If you’re someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, improving the way organisations work and making a visible impact, we’d love to hear from you.
