Job Description:

VNI Finance is delighted to be retained by our key client in Hamilton, with the recruitment of a newly created Transport & Logistics Manager.

Our client is a market leader in recycling and operates globally. The business is part of a much larger group. The Transport & Logistics Manager plays a key role in the UK leadership team and reports to the Operations Director.

Role Overview:

  • Manage all UK, European and international, specifically USA and Far East freight operations.
  • Coordinate imports and exports via road, sea and air freight.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, hauliers, customs brokers and shipping partners.
  • Ensure customs documentation and import/export compliance is completed accurately.
  • Manage relationships with logistics providers and negotiate competitive freight rates.
  • Monitor freight costs and identify operational savings.
  • Ensure on-time deliveries whilst maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Resolve transport delays, customs issues and operational challenges.
  • Produce logistics performance reports for senior management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the logistics function.
  • Work closely with finance regarding freight costs, customs duties and international shipping charges.
  • Assist with forecasting transport requirements as business volumes increase.
  • Develop scalable logistics processes to support future growth.
  • Responsible for all weighbridge incoming and outgoing loads

Candidate Background:

  • Proven experience within transport, logistics or international freight.
  • Strong knowledge of import/export procedures and customs compliance.
  • Experience managing UK and international freight providers.
  • Understanding of Incoterms and international shipping documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to control freight costs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/system skills.

Package:

  • £45,000 – £50,000 salary depending on experience.
