Hot Air / Hot Knife Welding Operative

Are you hands-on, detail-focused, and keen to learn a specialist manufacturing skill? This is your opportunity to join a growing engineering business producing life-saving equipment used around the globe. Our client is a specialist manufacturer of inflatable rescue, recovery, and survival systems, and they’re looking for a Welding/Machine Operative to join their production team.

  • What you’ll be doing: Operating hot air and hot knife welding equipment on technical textiles
  • Preparing and aligning materials for precise joining
  • Ensuring surfaces are clean, fitted, and ready for welding
  • Working from technical drawings and work instructions
  • Contributing to the build of high-quality, safety-critical products

Initial Training Phase:

Your first 6–8 weeks will see you working on a key project, stripping down returned shelters ready for service and refurbishment. This is a great way to understand the products, materials, and construction techniques before moving into the welding and assembly side of the role.

  • What we’re looking for: Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and interpret basic technical drawings
  • Experience in manufacturing/assembly is beneficial (but not essential)
  • A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

  • What’s in it for you: Full training provided – no prior welding experience required
  • Structured onboarding to build your product knowledge from day one
  • Opportunity to develop a niche, in-demand skillset
  • Work on products that genuinely make a difference and save lives
  • Supportive team environment within a growing specialist manufacturer

Note: The role requires candidates who are comfortable with physical work, including handling and lifting large/heavy materials.
