Site Manager Vacancy – St Luke’s Church Primary School
St Luke’s is a vibrant, friendly and values‑led primary school at the heart of the Tiptree community. We are building a strengthened Site Team to ensure our premises are safe, well‑maintained and ready for children to thrive every day. We are advertising two roles:
- 10 hours per week – Site Manager (Scale 5, Band 3)
- 30 hours per week – Assistant Caretaker (Scale 3, Band 2)
These roles work together alongside our School Business Manager to provide consistent, high‑quality site management across the school. Applicants may express interest in either post.
We are looking for committed, skilled and proactive individuals who take pride in maintaining a school environment and who can contribute positively to the smooth running of our premises.
Responsibilities
- Security & Keyholding – Supporting routine and non‑routine opening/closing, responding to alarm call‑outs, and helping maintain a secure site
- Cleaning Team Leadership – Monitoring standards, allocating duties, providing induction and training, and ensuring the school is consistently clean and well‑presented.
- Maintenance & Repairs – Carrying out basic plumbing, redecoration, plastering, fencing and glazing tasks within the scope of the role. Maintaining caretaking equipment and carrying out routine checks.
- Health & Safety – Ensuring compliance with codes of practice, monitoring procedures, and working closely with our Health & Safety Officer.
- Team Support – Assisting with supervision or training of cleaning staff when required.
Qualifications
- Experience in school caretaking and buildings maintenance
- Strong practical skills and confidence with DIY tasks
- Ability to communicate clearly and manage complex information
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- A positive, proactive approach to problem‑solving
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and high standards across the school
- Ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with staff, contractors and visitors
