Senior Project Engineer – Process

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with significant Process Engineering experience to join our team. Ideally the candidate would have worked at a Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer level within the Process Engineering discipline before moving to Project Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Engineering Manager in the development of project basis of design, philosophies, key studies, novel technologies and value improvement practices.
  • Being familiar with the contract terms and scope of work, communicating them properly to the engineering staff, and performing all activities required of engineering as required by the contract.
  • Preparing, issuing, and maintaining a project design basis document. Changes to the document after issue should be considered changes to the scope of work, requiring coordination of multi-discipline input.
  • Working with the engineering disciplines to ensure readiness for project stage gate reviews.
  • Advocating the KBR staged execution approach to ensure the correct sequence of working between disciplines to support project success.
  • Supporting Project Controls in the development of project schedules and resolving potential conflicts between disciplines.
  • Supporting and collating the ITT package to ensure a high level of quality through engagement of key stakeholders.
  • Facilitating project workshops around lessons learned, risk management, and other discipline specific workshops.
  • Keeping up to date with KBR Digital solutions and initiatives and supporting their effective roll out on projects.
  • Supporting the KBR Project Startup process to ensure the project works through the requirements in a timely manner.
  • Being committed to the success of KBR’s global workshare execution methodology.

Key Attributes / Skills

  • Experience in multiple project delivery as a Project Engineer across different phases of projects FEED, Detail Design etc.
  • Aspirations to develop into a Project Engineering Manager.
  • Willingness to travel on business trips and to site locations if required.
  • Experience developing scoping documents with multi-discipline inputs.
  • Collaborates well within a team environment and demonstrates good communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstratable flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project-related priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work within deadlines.
  • Ability to work with clients to resolve issues, including conflicting demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.
  • Experience working with clients in lump sum environments with a focus on change management.
  • Extensive Process Engineering experience including development of the Design Basis, Philosophies, Process Simulations (review), H&MB, P&IDs, PFDs etc.
  • Understanding of project safety requirements, international standards and implications on design.
  • Good understanding of process control and implementation in design.
  • Experience taking a leading role in a safety review (HazOp/SIL/LOPA).
  • Experience communicating across a multi-discipline team and across different offices.
  • IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite and in particular Microsoft Project.

Desirable

  • Experience with configuration and management of P&ID (SPPID) databases.
  • Developing presentations and experience communicating with clients, personnel and professional institutions.
  • Experience in UK project execution.
  • Experience in Nuclear Project Execution.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering (BEng).
  • Professional accreditation with registered Institution or Engineering Council or equivalent.
