Position Overview
The Midland Metro Alliance is expanding the West Midlands tram network and is looking for a Landscape Architect to support the Designer Joint Venture led by EGIS. You will help deliver innovative landscape and visual impact solutions across major extensions such as the Birmingham Eastside, Westside and Wednesbury to Brierley Hill projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare technical information for landscape infrastructure, development and improvement projects, including preliminary sketches, detailed construction drawings, general arrangement drawings, hard & soft construction detailing, schedules and specifications.
- Support the delivery of landscape‑specific tasks within projects, attending workshops and stakeholder events.
- Provide design advice and manage landscape (soft and hard) design during construction phases, ensuring material selection and sustainability considerations.
- Produce high‑quality hand drawings and presentations.
- Conduct site analysis, evaluating existing site conditions, soil, drainage, vegetation and interface with surrounding context.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience delivering Landscape and Visual Impact Appraisals and Assessments.
- Experience with transport master‑planning, strategic and feasibility/concept studies, and urban design projects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), AutoCAD, Revit / Rhino / SketchUp and GIS.
- Strong technical skills with Autodesk/Bentley tools and understanding of local regulations, standards and policies.
- Outstanding hand‑drawing and presentation skills.
Education & Membership
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
- Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or equivalent.
