Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Quality Engineer to join a growing aerospace composites manufacturing business based in Pickering. The role offers up to £50,000 per year.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving quality performance across the business, with a particular focus on APQP process improvement and supporting NPI projects from concept through to production release. You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and programme teams to ensure robust quality standards are achieved and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support APQP activities across multiple aerospace composite manufacturing projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within quality and manufacturing processes.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring quality requirements are embedded from the outset.
- Manage non‑conformance activities, including containment, investigation and resolution.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA) and long‑term corrective actions.
- Support verification activities including FAIRs, inspection planning, PPAP/PAPP documentation, and validation processes.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve process capability and product quality.
- Participate in internal and external audits and support compliance with aerospace quality standards.
- Monitor quality KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement across the business.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in advanced manufacturing quality engineering.
- Strong involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes.
- Experience managing non‑conformance processes and investigations.
- Knowledge and experience with verification documentation / PPAP or PAPP activities.
- Proven capability in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA).
- Experience working within APQP frameworks and driving process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally within engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Understanding of regulated manufacturing environments.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of AS9100 standards and aerospace quality systems.
- Understanding of CMM equipment and inspection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience within composites or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or process optimisation initiatives.
- Internal auditor qualification or audit experience within regulated manufacturing environments.
