Maintenance Engineer – Production Equipment

Overview
This role sits within the Production Maintenance team and is responsible for maintaining manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance. The role supports both planned and reactive maintenance activities, helping to minimise downtime and ensure consistent production output.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a full range of manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment in accordance with company procedures and industry best practices.
- Ensure minimal production downtime by maintaining equipment performance and reliability.
- Apply mechanical and electrical engineering skills to diagnose faults and implement effective repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance work is accurately documented within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain compliance with company procedures, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and regulatory requirements.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities using structured problem‑solving tools.
- Support initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving reliability, and reducing operational costs.
- Contribute to the company’s Continuous Improvement (CI) programmes.
- Provide technical support during process investigations and production issues.
- Support equipment setup and optimisation using engineering knowledge and hands‑on skills.
- Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment performance and setup efficiency.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum: NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Maintenance (or equivalent).
- Preferred: Multi‑skilled qualification covering both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experience
- Minimum: Experience working in a regulated industrial environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical device, food manufacturing).
- Preferred: Strong competence in both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Proven experience maintaining a wide range of industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply maintenance skills in a regulated environment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong engineering craft skills and fault‑finding capability.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment and control systems.
- Understanding of GMP and Health & Safety requirements.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to analyse problems and implement practical solutions.
Working Conditions
- Work may be carried out in confined or restricted spaces.
- Use of Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) may be required.
- The role involves contact with pharmaceutical products and adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards.

Sunday: 6:00PM – 6:00AM
Monday: 9:00PM – 6:00AM
Tuesday: 9:00PM – 6:00AM
Wednesday: 9:00PM – 6:00AM
